Bored and Stuck at Work

Why am I bored at work? Because I have no work to do. Why don't I have any work to do? Because the client's company have not pproduced the documents required for me to do my work...

Anyway, this is my second week at work and I have been to 3 different client's offices. Tomorrow I am going to meet the MD. All the VTs that are ending work in March are going to meet him tomorrow. I'm nervous about it not because I am meeting him but it's because I don't know what to expect during the meeting tomorrow.

There are these vending machines in the client's office that I am working in that has vending machines that sells a cup of drink for only 20 cents!! I just saw the food vending machine. I think I might check that one out after work.

I just received a message from my jie that she is not going for the photography outing on Saturday. I'm not sure if my "Chicken Little" family is going either. P.S. "Chicken Little" is just a random whatsapp group name for my closer friends in photography. Chose that name because some people say that I look like Chicken Little. I don't look like Chicken Little seriously.

Even though 2E CCA points (E stands for Enrichment) will be awarded for going for the outing, I only want to go to an outing that I can enjoy with friends. So instead, I would be going to my cousin's house instead I guess. I normally go to their house on Sundays but because my family has something on, so we decided to switch it to Saturday.

So I can only choose between going for the photograhy outing and going to my cousin's house. Guess I've made up my mind even though it's a pity that those CCA points would be flying away... They are going to Botanical Gardens anyway so I guess there won't be a lot of pictures for me to take during the outing anyway. P.S. Went there with my "Chicken Little" family last year for phototaking.

Another day at work

Today is my third day of work. I think today is better than the other two days.

Today my colleague brought me to the client's office! I was so excited, it felt like I was going on an excursion! Oh, how it relieves my childhood memories where my school would bring the students out for excursions. I swear, the working people are really really nice. My colleague also told me that I can leave early today because she has no work to give me to do. Work today was really relaxing. The past two days were much more stressful.

Yesterday after lunch, my colleague asked me to balance the income statement with the trial balance. Just a note: I was never good at balancing things. So I was stuck on that income statement, also because I have never seen some of the terms used in the statement before. I was so embarressed when I had too tell my colleague that could not balance the income statement. Looks like I need more practice. I'm still glad how things went today. Was really smooth. Tomorrow I will be coming back here for work.

I think I am very lucky in terms of transport. I have a direct bus 61 from my house to Ngee Ann Polytechnic and back. I have a direct bus 100 from my house to work and back. Now I only need to take the MRT from Tanjong Pagar from the client's office to harbourfront which is only two stations away! All the time saved when going to different destinations.

I have a photography outing on the 16th March. Hopefully my parents would let me go for it. Besides that, there is an upcoming photography camp in May. I want to join so badly! Especially when its very good in helping you to get CCA points. 4S points if I join as helper and 5L points if I join as a GL. Of course I would love to join as a GL! Firstly I would get to interact with the freshies. Secondly, I can get 1 additional CCA point! I hope that there is no captains ball by the way, I am not that good at catching balls and most of the unglam photos that they are going to take will be when you are doing sports.

We will be staying over at the Loft so this time I will remember to bring a blanket over. I went for the photography camp as a freshie last year and I was freezing at night. One, the aircon is super cold and the beds are facing towards the aircon so you will get a blast of cold air right into the face every few seconds. Two, they only provide you with a tiny towel to use as a blanket. When I say tiny, I mean that when you put the towel on your body, your feet will be sticking out, the material of the tower is uber thin and every time you shift in the bed, one part of your body will be exposed to the cold air. I had to endure this for the entire camp.

However, the Loft is actually really nice. They provide you with a fridge, stove, I think there was a microwave, sofa and lotsa beds.

Ok wow, how did I get from talking about work to talking about CCA. I must be watching to many of Rage's Minecraft Quick Builds Challenge on Youtube where he will commentate while building and would talk and talk and talk and talk non-stop. He is really funny though.

To be honest, I am pretty worried about my examination results. It is going to be released on 15th March. I hope I won't fail anything because no one likes to repeat any module. I hope I did "decently" well for my exams then I will be able to celebrate on the 16th when we are having the photography outing.

I kinda feel like my colleagues are babysitting me? I don't know why but it feels like it. Maybe it's because I don't know how to do a lot of things and they seem to be so pro at what they are doing. What am I talking about? If they are not pro then why would the company even hire them.

A day at work

Today is my second day at work, I was actually dreading to go to work because I have to wake up early... However today seems much better than the first day of work. During my first day of work, it was more like an art and craft session. Seriously, all I did was fold paper, cut and paste stuff.

By the way, if you are thinking that I am skiving (is this the right word?) work then you're wrong! I'm using my lunch break to type this.

Okay, back to the point, basically thats all I did besides filing on the first day. It was a little awkward for me because when the HR Manager was showing me around the office, everyone would look up at me and I'm like: Ermergerd don't look at me!!

Today was much better and I started having longer conversations with the colleagues that I am working with. (LOL I sound like a creep) Anyway, during those conversations, I found out that there was a direct bus (100) from home to work! She was like: "Gosh how can you not know?" and I went; "Oh I didn't know". This means that I don't have to walk all the way from my workplace to the MRT and then take a bus back!! Woohoooooo!

I also did a little data entry (very little actually) and had to make some overseas phone calls to clients. I was super noob with the telephone calling. I had to ask how to use the phone, how to talk to the clients, I even had to type out what I was really going to say to the client and I REALLY SAID word for word from my "script". I think it was quite hillarious for my colleague because I was walking here and there trying to find out how to do these kind of things which were supposed to be basic. One time I almost screwed up a phone call and luckily my colleague was nearby to fix the problem. It was a very serious problem by the way. It was just that I did not know what to say since it was not included in my script XD

My lunchbreak is going to end it about 40 min? Wow long lunch break. Actually my lunch break should have started about 1 hour 20 min ago but I don't think anyone would mind if I have a longer lunch break since I'm having it in the office. Yeah, I did not go out for lunch today because I did not want to clash with the lunch crowd. I really hate crowded places because its hot, there will be a queue, you have to find seats and its crowded.

From the amount of things that I am typing in this post, I'm sure you can see how bored I am, but seriously, I think that this job is a very good experience for me. I learnt how to use an office phone today LOL!

BAOC 2013

I have just went for BAOC (Business Accountancy Orientation Convention) Inauguration Meeting today. Basically, we decided on what kind of flag we were going to design, etc. Then I was informed that we were going to use the whole of March to prepare the materials and props. I am ok with that but the only thing is: I am having my internship with an accounting firm called Nexia TS. (1) My internship clashes with my BAOC preparation.

Next, dry run for the BAOC event is on 4th April 2013. I'm going overseas from 2nd - 9th April. (2) Overseas trip clashes with BAOC dry run.

Lastly, the actual BAOC event falls on the 8th - 10th April. I will only reach Singapore at 0050 on 10th April -.- (3) Overseas trip clashes with BAOC.

Therefore, everything clashes with BAOC... But for the sake of my freshies and myself (lol), I'm going to try and make it for the last day of BAOC. Hopefully I will be able to have enough bonding time with the freshies (Oh man~~~)

I felt superrrrr depressed after finding out that I would not be able to participate in BAOC. (Damn my CCA points TT_TT) But I have to think positively grrrrrr. I can't change anything now since the flights have been fully booked and I cannot postpone the trip.

A message to all the freshies attending BAOC 2013: Have a blast! It's gonna be really fun and memorable! Though I may not be able to make it for the first two days, I hope that I will be able to bond with you guys on the last day!

Come to think of it, I should probably get some souvenirs for my freshies HAHA

P.S. I know how that my posts on this blog are very, very informal and if my Business Communication tutor were to ever see my blog, she would definitely "kill" me XD

First Youtube Cover

Wheeeee~ Hello everyone! It has been so long since I blogged the last time!
I have just finished my exams last week so I decided to take some time to work on my blog.
Oh! And Happy New Year!

So, I have just uploaded my first ever singing cover onto youtube, though it was a lil embarrassing >_<
I sang 사귀고 싶어 - I want to date (Flower Boy Next Door OST). Seriously, I think this show is very interesting haha

In the video, I may have some pronunciation errors? So I have registered for korean class in school to improve on it ^_^ Might be uploading another one soon. Enjoy :)
